Saint Francis D'Assisi Mawkasiang is 3 KM east of NEIGRIHMS. The Franciscan Missionary Brothers established this centre here in 1992. It was then an interior, unknown Village. Today Mawkasiang is famous in the Fields of Education at St.Francis High School and Health Care through the Alternative Therapy at St.Francis Holistic Healing Centre. Today Mawkasiang is the Centre of New Shillong.

St.Francis D'Assisi School caters mainly to the needs of the Local People. However, Boarding Facilities for both boys and girls are available. As a result, there are many residential students from all over Meghalaya and even from other States of Northeast. The School is recognised by MBoSE. At present it is a Secondary School, however, shortly it will be upgraded into a Higher Secondary School. |
